Ahsan Manzil stands on the bank of the river Buriganga, at the southern part of the Dhaka City. It was the palace of the Nawabs of Dhaka. In 1872 Nawab Abdul Ghani named it 'Ahsan Manzil' after the name of his son Khwaja Ahsanullah. From the middle of the nineteenth century about a period of hundred years onwards this palace was a major political center of Bengal. The magnificent palace was renovated to a museum with 23 galleries and opened for visitors in 1992. |
Osmany Museum was established in 1987 in the Sylhet City situated at the northeastern part of Bangladesh. The museum was founded after the name of General Ataul Gani Osmany, Commander in Chief of the liberation war. 'Noor Manzil', one of the residences of General Osmany, was transformed into a museum with exhibits related to Osmany's works and life. Different events of liberation war were also painted in oil color and displayed in the gallery. |
Zia memorial museum is situated in the port city of Chittagong and housed in the old circuit house building which represents beautiful architectural features of South East Asia. The building was constructed on a small hill in 1913. President Ziaur Rahman was assassinated there on 30 May 1981. This commemorative museum houses the Late President Ziaur Rahman's mementos and personal belongings. It was established in 1993 with 12 galleries. |
Shilpacharya Zainul Abedin Sangrahashala : Shilpacharya Zainul Abedin was the pioneer of modern and contemporary art movement in Bangladesh. He started to establish an art gallery in collaboration with local administration in his native town Mymensingh which, was formally opened for the visitors on 15 April 1975.Latter it was upgraded and transformed into a museum through a development project executed by the Bangladesh National Museum,Ministry of Cultural Affairs, Government of People’s Republic of Bangladesh.In honour of the memory of late artist the Museum is named Shilpacharya Zainul Abedin Sangrahashala. Location : It is situated on the bank of river Bramhaputra in Mymensingh district. Area : 1.30 Hector of total land . Type of museum : Memorial museum Museum building and gallery : The museum is comprised of a two storied building.Design of the building is influenced by Mughal architecture. It contains three galleries, an auditorium and office area for the service oriented and logistic department. Moreover there is a rental rest house for scholars and researchers Exhibit : Works of Shilpacharya Zainul Abedin and objects related to the life and memory of Shilpacharya.
